Lady Hornets best Trenton in Bulldogs home opener

The Trenton Lady Bulldogs opened the home portion of their volleyball season on Thursday night, falling to visiting Chillicothe 25-14, 25-16, 25-12 from the THS gymnasium.  The JV matchup went to the Hornets 25-11, 25-20, while the C team match was Chillicothe’s 25-17, 25-14.

For the THS varsity, Nautica Dowling had six kills and one ace, Abby Simpson nine assists, and McKenzy Dolan 14 digs.

Trenton head coach Brad Ewald praised the student section for creating a “great atmosphere for volleyball”, and while saying the Bulldogs played well, admitted his team could not get over the hump with potential points on a number of long rallies.

On Tuesday night (September 5th), Trenton returned to action but found rough sledding at Plattsburg, falling to the Tigers 25-11, 25-11, 25-8.  Coach Ewald called that experience a “very rough night”.

Makenzee Whipple had three blocks, Saige Gott four kills, Abby Simpson five assists, Jacole Simpson six digs, and Nautica Dowling a pair of aces for Trenton.

Plattsburg swept the night, winning the JV match 25-21, 25-19 and the C team battle 22-25, 25-10, 15-9.
