Lathrop, Lexington continue steady climb, Princeton remains unranked, in latest statewide poll

High School Football

The latest Missouri Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association high school football poll has been released, with the Chillicothe Hornets and Penney Hornets keeping their positions from the week prior, after dominating conference victories on Friday night (Chillicothe at Cameron, Penney vs. Mid-Buchanan).

In Class 2, the two squads to beat the Trenton Bulldogs in non-conference play continued their climb up the state poll, as the Lathrop Mules and Lexington Minutemen continue unbeaten starts to the 2017 season.

Class 1 has a very familiar look to last week’s poll, with the Top 4 remaining as Valle Catholic, Monroe City, Marceline, and Penney.  Despite a 4-0 start to the season, including a 52-32 win at Class 2 Trenton on Friday night, the Princeton Tigers remain out of the Top 10 in Class 1, unable to even break into the “receiving votes” category, a ‘group’ that currently includes only the Wellington-Napoleon Tigers.

Here is the Week 5 poll, released on Tuesday, September 12, 2017.
