The Bishop LeBlond Golden Eagles, ranked third in Class 2 (according to MaxPreps), received a strong first set challenge from Trenton on Tuesday night, but after surviving 25-22 to open the match, the St. Joseph side took control of the proceedings, taking the second set 25-10 and the final set 25-11 from the THS gymnasium.
LeBlond won the JV match 25-11, 25-17 and the C team battle 25-7, 25-10.
For the Trenton varsity, Jacole Simpson had 14 digs, Saige Gott six kills, Emma Raedelli nine assists, and Mackenzie Whipple three blocks.
THS head coach Brad Ewald, again highlighting his team’s October improvement, noted that the Bulldogs “showed they can play with the best of them”, adding that he didn’t feel like his team played differently in the final two sets in comparison to the first, other than “not being as consistent as they needed to be”. With St. Joseph Christian coming up on Monday, and the district opener against South Harrison on Tuesday (5 PM at Lathrop / KGOZ FM 101.7), Coach Ewald said the Lady Bulldogs are “really close to putting it all together”.
