The Meadville and Stanberry girls continue to be ranked in the MBCA Class 1 state poll, both chasing powerhouse Platte Valley, the Jefferson-South Nodaway cooperative sitting at #1. A loss to Schuyler County at NCMC’s Holiday Hoops event in Trenton dropped the Mercer girls into the “receiving votes” category this week. In Class 3, the Milan Lady Wildcats, leaders in the Grand River Conference’s Eastern Division at the midway point of conference play, sit at #6, while the Chillicothe Lady Hornets remain at #4 in Class 4.
In boys basketball, area teams ranked this week include Winston, Stanberry, and Green City, all in Class 1, with a number of area squads, including Putnam County and Gallatin from the Grand River Conference, sitting in the receiving votes category.
