The Milan Wildcat basketball teams entered Friday with an opportunity, particularly for the boys squad, to compete for a Grand River Conference title, as the ‘Cats welcomed Trenton into the “Den” on Friday night, with Putnam County headed to Milan on Tuesday night. Both doubleheaders will be broadcast on KTTN FM 92.3.
Unfortunately for the Lady ‘Cats, illness struck the team going into the game against GRC East-leading Trenton, as Angelle Ziegler missed the contest with strep throat, while seniors Kenna Michael and Samantha DeRyke were slowed by the flu.
Milan’s boys fought hard, but came up short against the visiting Bulldogs 82-67, leaving Milan hoping to win out, and have Trenton lose at Putnam County on January 31st, to boost Wildcat hopes of getting back into the divisional race.
