Mizzou adds potential Schrader replacement through transfer portal

Local Sports

Mizzou football secured its first offensive transfer portal acquisition Monday in former Georgia State running back Marcus Carroll, the player announced on social media.

Carroll, who enjoyed his most productive season this year with 1,350 yards and 13 scores rushing on 247 carries, will fill a big hole for the Tigers, who are set to lose All-American Cody Schrader and fellow tailback Nate Peat because of expiring eligibility.

The 5-foot-10, 210-pound running only visited Missouri, making the trip to Columbia this past weekend and committing soon after.

Carroll, from Union City, Georgia, is rated a four-star player per 247Sports. He was the site’s fourth-ranked running back in the portal, making it two top-five recruits at their position for Missouri’s transfer class. Toriano Pride Jr., the No. 1 portal cornerback, committed to Missouri from Clemson last Wednesday.

He steps in as the likely starter with the two veterans exiting. Redshirt freshman Tavorus Jones and true freshman Jamal Roberts are the only other scholarship running backs on the roster. The duo has a combined eight career carries.
