Mizzou’s Pinson gives indication on returning to the Tigers, passing on NBA Draft

In the strongest hint yet that he is leaning toward returning to the University of Missouri for his junior season, Tiger point guard Xavier Pinson posted to Instagram on Monday, saying he “has unfinished business” with Mizzou and wearing a Mizzou t-shirt in the video.

Pinson has been debating whether to leave MU early and enter the 2020 NBA Draft, or to return.  He had announced in the spring his intentions to enter the draft, while not hiring an agent, leaving open the possibility of a return.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch’s Dave Matter says that Pinson, a Chicago native, has not submitted any official paperwork to remove his name from the draft, for now.

Pinson showed much improved and inconsistent play for the Tigers over the final two months of the 2019-2020 season, and if returning, would be one of the cornerstones to what could be one of the most improved teams in the Southeastern Conference.

In NCAA recruiting news, Baylor has picked up another Top-25 player for the Class of 2021, with five-star Kendall Brown of Sunrise Christian Academy in Kansas committing to coach Scott Drew on Monday.  Brown’s commitment is the third for BU in July, joining Langston Love and European forward Jeremy Sochan.

Brown passed on an offer from in-state Kansas, and had taken official visits to Marquette and Ohio State.  ESPN ranks him as #16 in the network’s Top 100 for 2021.  Love is ranked #22 in the same group.
