The North Central Missouri College Pirates lost a pair of games to visiting Mineral Area Community College on Tuesday afternoon, falling by scores of 7-4 and 12-2, with MACC taking 3 of 4 games from the Pirates in the early-week series at Burleigh Grimes Field.
In the opener, the Pirates scored three runs in the fifth inning, with the surge keyed by a single by Enrique Madera and a single by Quinsly Balentien. However, that rally come immediately after a Wilson home run helped Mineral Area to score four runs in the visitors fifth inning.
Winder got the victory for Mineral Area with seven innings of four run, eight hit baseball, striking out 11 Pirates. Kylan Easley took the loss for NCMC, with five innings of work resulting in six runs allowed on eight hits, with two punch-outs.
In Game 2, NCMC watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 12-2 loss. Mineral Area scored on a 2-run double by Crawford, a single by Wilson, and a double by Barrow, all in the first inning. Clark earned the win for Mineral Area Community College. He threw seven innings, surrendering two runs, seven hits, striking out eight, and walking one. Trae Brownell took the loss for North Central. He pitched two and a third innings, surrendering seven runs, ten hits, striking out two, and walking zero.
Connor Quick and Deric Killday each collected multiple hits for NCMC’s seven hit attack, while MACC collected 17 hits. The Pirates will host Maple Woods Community College on Thursday afternoon in the “Sophomore Recognition Day” doubleheader at Burleigh Grimes Field at Eastside Park in Trenton.
