Trenton tennis gets back in win column with Irish shutout

The Trenton Bulldogs won five matches (four singles and one double) and claimed four more victories by forfeit, routing the visiting Lafayette Irish on Tuesday afternoon in tennis action from Trenton High School.

No matches were played at #5 and #6 singles, and #2 and #2 doubles, due to lack of players for Lafayette.  In singles, Trenton dominated, with Jacob Davis and Wyatt Neal winning by 8-love finals (over Jonnathan Taylor and Colbey Curtis respectively), while Nick Shields beat Miller Hadley 8-1, and Gabe Swann downed Colbey Curtis 8-1.

The most competitive match of the afternoon came at #1 doubles, where the Bulldog tandem of Kade Ockenfels and Creed Houghton, neither of whom had a chance to play in singles action, teamed up for an 8-5 win over Hadley and Taylor.

Trenton’s win improves the Bulldogs to 5-2 on the season, dropping Lafayette to a mark of 0-10.
