NCMC’s six game winning streak snapped at KCK, in 88-67 loss

The North Central Missouri College Lady Pirates ran into a hot-shooting Kansas City Kansas squad, and potentially lost a starter to a knee injury, in a Wednesday night contest in Kansas City, broadcast locally on Hot Country Z 101.7.

The final score, leaving both squads at 7-3, was 88-67 in favor of the Blue Devils.  On the injury front, North Central sophomore Dasia Young injured her knee while landing on a shot attempt in the first half.  While details of the injury will not be known until an MRI is done on the injury, there is fear that it is a torn ligament that would end the career of the Kansas City native.

Sarah Lamp battled through an ankle sprain to score 22 points for the Lady Pirates, while Madison Gonseth and Kendey Eaton scored 12.  KCK, earning head-to-head payback against an NCMC team that beat the Blue Devils on November 1st, had Brie Taui with 26 points, Brooklyn Wagler 18, Aeriel Holiday 17, and Ky’Ana French with 14.

The Lady Pirates return home to host the John Wood Trail Blazers on Saturday afternoon.  Tip-off for the contest is slated for 1 o’clock.

KTTN Sports Director Tom Johnson spoke with Coach Jenni Croy about the loss to KCK on the weekly Lady Pirates coaches show, aired Thursday at 5:35 on 92.3 FM:
