On Thursday night at Milan’s Legion Field, Trenton jumped on the board early, scoring 4 in the top of the first inning.  Mykah Hurley (3-5, 3 R, 3 RBI, 2 2B) opened with a one out single and scored on Taylor Richman’s (3-5, 2 2B, 5 RBI) RBI double. Richman would score on a Sidney Lynch (2-5, 3 Rs, RBI) single. Maci Moore (3-4, 3 Rs, 2RBI), followed with a double and both runners scored on Jayden Roeder’s (2-3, 3RBI) single.

Roeder and Moore added RBI singles to push the lead to 12-0 after 4. The Bulldogs then added 10 more in the top of the 5th inning. Hurley added an RBI double, Salem Croy (2-4, 2R, HR, 4 RBI) added her fourth home run of the season, a 2 run shot in the inning.  Moore had an RBI single, Lexi Whitaker (1-4, 2R, 2 RBI) and Tolson each had a 2 run single in the inning and Croy and Richman each had RBI singles.
In the circle, Ainsley Tolson cruised to her 9th win of the season allowing only 2 hits and striking out 10. Milan had a leadoff triple in the 4th but Tolson was able to strike out 2 and get an fly out to CF Moore.  The loss for Milan is the Lady ‘Cats third consecutive in conference play, following defeats at Maysville (August 31st) and South Harrison (Tuesday).
Head Coach John Cowling commented, “Our hitters are in a great groove right now and are able to make adjustments within the game. Ainsley continues to make it difficult for other teams to score and our defense plays well behind her.”
Trenton will play at Lawson in non-conference action at 5 PM on Monday, with coverage at 4:45 on Hot Country Z 101.7.
The THS JV moved to 7-0 on Thursday, defeating the Milan Lady Wilcats, 7-2 in four innings.
Triples were the driving force for the Bulldogs, as they got their offense going early and kept it going late. Kennedy Norton, one-for-three, drove in McKayla Blackburn, one-for-three in the first with a triple and would later score on a pass ball to put THS up early. Milan would get those runs back in their half of the first, however to tie things up at two. It was triples from Mackenzie McAtee, two-for-three, and Chloie Harris, one-for-three, that pushed the Bulldogs to victory. Sara Spencer and Sarah Jordan also had hits to help pace THS to victory.
“We had great at-bats tonight,” said JV Coach Kameron Cool. “Our girls were aggressive and it paid off with extra-base hits.”
Blackburn led THS in the circle, going all four innings, giving up two runs, (none earned) on three hits while striking out eight.
THS will travel to Lawson on Monday. Varsity first pitch is at 5:00 with JV to follow.
