Princeton completes perfect regular season, locks up #1 seed in District 8

If six Grand River Conference teams, or the defending Class 1 state champions from Hamilton, want to win a Class 1, District 8 championship, they will have to go through Eddie Allen Field in Princeton to do it.  The Grand River Conference champion Tigers wrapped up the #1 seed with dominating 62-7 victory over the Polo Panthers on Friday night, completing a perfect 9-0 regular season.

The win will send the Maysville Wolverines to Princeton on Friday night, for a district quarterfinal game with the home-standing Tigers, on KTTN FM 92.3.  Princeton Head Coach Thomas Hotmer praised his team’s play during an interview on the Coke/Grundy County Lumber Locker Room Show, after the win over the Panthers:

The Milan Wildcats finished the regular season with a two-game winning streak, defeating the visiting Maysville Wolverines on Friday night on KTTN FM 92.3, by a score of 34-14.  The South Harrison Bulldogs doubled up the Putnam County Midgets to finish 4-3, in a third place tie with Trenton in the GRC standings, winning 40-20 in Bethany.

The quarterfinal match-ups in Class 1, District 8 this Friday night will be : Maysville at Princeton (KTTN-FM), Milan at Penney-Hamilton, South Harrison at Polo, and Putnam County at Gallatin.

The Worth County Tigers hammered the visiting Stanberry Bulldogs to claim the Grand River Conference eight-man title on Friday night, winning by a margin of 56-14.  Elsewhere in the “GRC 8”, Pattonsburg outscored Albany 94-62, King City took a 56-50 road win at St. Joseph Christian, while North Andrew won at Braymer, 72-20.
