Princeton falls in close quarterfinal battles at Albany Tournament

The Princeton Lady Tigers battled hard, but came up just short, in a Albany Tournament quarterfinal game played on Monday night.  The King City Lady Wildkats took down PHS by a score of 53-49.  Brittany Walters paced King City with 28 points, while Haley Johnson had 12 points and Vivian Allen 11 for the Lady Tigers.

The win advances King City, the #4 seed, into a Thursday afternoon (4:45 PM) semifinal with #1 seed Jefferson, a 53-21 winner over Albany.  Princeton, looking for its first win of the 2016-2017 season, will take on the host Albany Lady Warriors in the consolation round, Wednesday afternoon at 4:45.

The Princeton boys nearly pulled off an upset of the #2 seed Jefferson Eagles, before falling by a 55-51 final score.  In the other boys game played at Albany on Monday night, King City took down South Harrison by a score of 67-57.  

The Tigers will play in the consolation semifinals (against the Worth County / Pattonsburg loser) on Wednesday night at 9:15, with Jefferson advancing to a 9:15 Thursday night semifinal.

The South Harrison boys will play in the consolation semifinal round (against the Stanberry / Albany loser) on Wednesday night at 6:15, while the King City boys play in the semifinals on Thursday night at 6:15.

Tuesday night quarterfinal action from Albany High School will have the #3 seed South Harrison Lady Bulldogs playing Worth County at 4:45, the #3 seed Worth County Tigers against Pattonsburg at 6:15, the #2 seed Stanberry Lady Bulldogs against Pattonsburg at 7:45, and the #1 seed Stanberry Bulldogs against Albany at 9:15.
