Princeton Tiger hoops teams earn “middle seeds” for Albany Tournament

The 2017 edition of the Albany Basketball Tournament will be played from Monday, November 27th to Saturday, December 2nd at Albany High School.  Seven Grand River Conference schools, including the Princeton Tigers and South Harrison Bulldogs, will join the traditional power Jefferson Eagles in filling out the 8-team field in the girl’s and boy’s division.  

The top seeds in this year’s event go to the defending GRC Western Division champion Stanberry Lady Bulldogs, and, coming off a recent appearance in the eight-man football state championship game, the Worth County Tigers.

The Princeton girls have a #5 seed, with the boys seeded #4, putting the Tiger teams in challenging 4 vs. 5 seed quarterfinal tests on Tuesday, November 28th.  The Lady Tigers will play the King City Lady Wildkats at 6:15, with that game preceded by the Princeton boys dueling with the Stanberry Bulldogs at 4:45.  The second day of quarterfinal action, on the 28th, will finish up with the #2 seed Jefferson boys against King City at 7:45, with the #2 seed Jefferson girls going against host Albany at 9:15.

The first night of the Albany Tournament, on Monday, November 27th, will start with #1 seeded Stanberry opposite Pattonsburg in a 4:45 girls tip, with the #3 seeded South Harrison boys taking on Pattonsburg at 6:15.  At 7:45, the third-seeded Worth County Lady Tigers battle South Harrison, with the Worth County boys drawing #8 seed Albany at 9:15.

Consolation semifinals will be Wednesday, November 29th, with championship semifinals on Thursday, November 30th.  Friday, December 1st will bring a girls consolation final (5:30 PM), boys consolation final (7:00 PM), and girls third place game (8:30 PM).

The final night of the Albany Tournament starts with the boy’s third place game at 5:30.  The 7 o’clock girls final and 8:30 boys title game will immediately follow.
