Princeton’s Krohn and Spencer earn first-team all-region softball honors

The Missouri High School Fastpitch Coaching Association has announced the Class 1 All-Region 4 team, honoring the best players in northwest Missouri’s smallest schools, encompassing Districts 13, 14, 15, and 16.

Four pitchers were named first-team all-region, including Princeton junior Lauren Krohn, joined by Carly Rinehart of North Harrison, Jessi Miller of Platte Valley, and Regan Robinson of Stewartsville-Osborn.

Catchers are Emma Craig of North Harrison, Maggie Collins of Platte Valley, and Alaina Officer of North Andrew.

The first-team infield is highlighted by Princeton sophomore Megan Spencer, grouped with Malia Collins of Platte Valley, Jayleigh Robins of North Harrison, Rebbie Reagan of DeKalb, Gabby Newman of Albany, and Jackie Bryant of Stewartsville-Osborn.

The first-team outfielders are Albany’s Michaela Martin, Stanberry’s Lexi Craig, North Harrison’s Rainey Fordyce, and DeKalb’s Carissa Martin, with Sydnee Dean of Platte Valley named the at-large first-team selection.

In the Class 1 state playoffs in northwest Missouri, Princeton, Platte Valley, Stewartsville-Osborn, and Pattonsburg won district titles, with Platte Valley beating Princeton and Stewartsville-Osborn downing Pattonsburg in the sectional round.  Platte Valley, last Saturday, beat Stewartsville-Osborn 11-1 in the state quarterfinals, before hammering LaPlata in the semifinal round earlier this week, 18-0 in three innings, sending the Eagles into Saturday’s Class 1 state championship game in Springfield.

Chillicothe was well-represented on the Class 3, Region 4 squad.  Named first team from the Lady Hornets was center fielder Sophia Luetticke, with Kinlei Boley, Hope Helton, and Mika Hibner all named to the second team.
