Princeton’s Thomas medals, Meadville’s Seckington 13th, in Class 1 state cross country meet

In the Class 1 high school state cross country meet in Jefferson City on Saturday, Princeton sophomore Preston Thomas became the second individual in the history of the Tiger cross country program to medal and receive all-state recognition.

Thomas placed 20th among 165 runners, with the time of 17:50.  The top 25 medal and receive all-state status.

Princeton junior Logan Dunkin was 38th with a place of 18:25 and sophomore Tyler Richter was 129th with a time of 20:28.  

Dillon Seckington of Meadville was the area’s highest finisher in the Class 1 meet.  Seckington was 13th, with a time of 17:37.

Senior Easton Sabala of Hermitage won the Class 1 boys title, with a time of 16:43.33.

Team winners were New Haven in Class 1, Lamar in Class 2, Festus in Class 3, and Blue Springs in Class 4.

The Class 1 girl’s individual title went to Ashley Riley of Platte Valley, with a time of 19:55.53.  Emma Derr of Mound City was second, with a run of 20:58.80.  St. Joseph Christian’s Audrey Maggart was third at 21:06.69.  The Lady Lions finished fifth overall as a team, improving from the 7th place finish from 2016.
