Saturday’s Cameron Softball Tournament set, featuring 12 schools and four pools

Twelve area softball teams, weather permitting, will converge on Cameron on Saturday, for the annual Cameron Softball Tournament.  Pool play will decide which schools advance into which game in the early evening sessions, with action scheduled to start bright and early at 8 o’clock.

Pool A will consist of Cameron, Lawson, and the St. Joseph Central JV, with Pool B a mix of St. Joseph Central (varsity), Savannah, and DeKalb.  Pool C will featured three large schools, with St. Joseph Lafayette, Richmond, and Excelsior Springs butting heads, while Pool D will match-up St. Joseph Benton and Maysville, while the strong Class 1 Jefferson program continues its trend of “playing up” in the regular season, set for games with the Cardinals and Wolverines.

Three fields will be utilized at Cameron, with around-the-clock game action scheduled for 8 AM until just past 8 PM.

9:30 AM –

Field 2 – Central vs. Savannah

Field 3 – Richmond vs. Excelsior Springs

11:00 AM –

Field 1 – Cameron vs. Central JV

Field 2 – Central vs. DeKalb

Field 3 – Richmond vs. Excelsior Springs

12:30 PM – 

Field 1 – Lawson vs. Central JV

Field 2 – Savannah vs. DeKalb

Field 3 – Jefferson vs. Maysville

2:00 PM – 

Field 1 – #1 team in Pool A vs. #1 team in Pool D

Field 2 – #2 team in Pool A vs. #2 team in Pool D

Field 3- #3 team in Pool A vs. #3 team in Pool D

3:30 PM – 

Field 1 – #1 team in Pool B vs. #1 team in Pool C

Field 2 – #2 team in Pool B vs. #2 team in Pool C

Field 1 – Loser of 2:00 PM game vs. Loser of 3:30 PM game

The Field 1 championship game will have the run rule in effect, but will have no time limit.  All other fields will have a time limit
