The Missouri Sports Hall of Fame Basketball Classic will be played on Saturday, January 6th at Benton High School in St. Joseph.  The Trenton girls and boys basketball teams will open play in the event, less than 24 hours after a Grand River Conference trip to Maysville (January 5th).  Eight games will be played at the event, with the two other schools, in addition to Trenton, bringing their girls and boys teams being Kansas City Center High School and Mid-Buchanan High School of nearby Faucett.

The Trenton boys open the Hall of Fame Classic at 10 AM on January 6th against Butler High School.  The Lady Bulldogs, who are currently unbeaten and ranked #2 in the state in Class 3, play the Tolton Catholic Trail Blazers of Columbia, a team that began the season ranked #10, before losses to Hermann and Principia bounced the ‘Blazers from the rankings.  Tolton has since won three games in a row (Owensville, Christian, and Fox).  The Lady Bulldogs game with Tolton will tip at 11:30 AM, with both Trenton games that morning scheduled for broadcast on Hot Country Z 101.7.

Center will play in the next two games, in a boys game against the Maryville Spoofhounds at 1, and the girls game against the Lafayette Irish at 2:30.  The Lafayette boys battle Miller Career Academy at 4, with the Benton boys hosting the Marshall Owls at 5:30.

Mid-Buchanan’s basketball teams, both ranked #5 in Class 2 following KCI Conference Tournament championships a week ago, are in the evening session at Benton High School on January 6th, with the Lady Dragons playing Walnut Grove at 7 PM, followed by the boy’s game between the same two schools at 8:30.
