Trenton competes at Gary Haag Invite; Cameron wins GRC in weekend wrestling action

The Trenton High School wrestling team headed to Brookfield on Saturday, competing in the Gary Haag Tournament.  Results for THS included…..Mark Trump going 4-0 to win the 182 pound weight class; Sam Gibson 4-1 to finish second at 170; and Hunter McAtee winning three of four matches to come in second place at 106.

Kaden Owen at 145, Noah Lewis at 160, and Caleb Johnson at 220 pounds all were 3-2, heading home third place hardware.

The Cameron Dragons had five individual champions en route to the Midland Empire Conference Tournament title on Saturday at Benton High School in St. Joseph.

Cameron accumulated 387 points.  Chillicothe was runner-up with 298 and Benton third at 246.5.  Lafayette (216) was fourth, Savannah fifth, followed by Maryville and St. Pius X.

Chillicothe champions were Colten Sewell at 132 pounds, Dawson Wheeler at 160, Isaac Washburn at 220, and Christian Peniston at heavyweight.  

Finishing second for the Hornets was Sheldon Rader at 106.  Coming in third for Chillicothe were Aidan Zimmerman (120 pounds), Bryce Dominique (138), Brock Miller (170), and Evan Loucks (195).
