Trenton girls track finish second, behind Chillicothe, at Irish Relays

Lafayette High School in St. Joseph hosted the “Irish Relays” on Thursday afternoon, with the Chillicothe girls and boys track teams earning another pair of wins, as the Lady Hornets racked up 159 1/2 points and the Hornet boys 150.  The Trenton Lady Bulldogs were second with 95 points, followed by Richmond, Savannah, and Maryville.  The Maryville boys, with 95.82 points, finished second, followed by Benton and Bishop Hogan.  Trenton, with 83 1/2 points, finished in fifth place.

Trenton’s greatest success came in girl’s field events, as senior Ally Ockenfels took the shot put title, at 37 feet, 3 inches.  Freshman Salem Croy won the javelin toss, at 104 feet, 3 inches, with freshman Sidney Lynch second, at 96 feet, 9 inches.  Shayla Woodside of THS won the long jump, at 15 feet, 3 3/4 inches.  

Lauren Becker of Maryville won the discus, while Daejah Bernard of Benton won the high jump and triple jump.  

Other top 3 finishes included Molly Jones of Chillicothe third in the javelin and Whitney Clampitt of Chillicothe, second in the high jump and triple jump.  Clampitt won the 800 meter run, with Cameron’s Hannah Robinson third.

Monica Boyd of Bishop Hogan won the 100 and 200 meter dashes, with Khayla Hollingsworth of Cameron taking the 400 meter title.  Carly Beebe of Chillicothe won the 1,600 meter run, with Anna Hill of Savannah winning the 3,200.  

Chillicothe’s Jaime Albertson won the 110 and 300 hurdles races.  Morgan Choate of Cameron was runner-up in the 100 hurdles.  Claire Chapman of Chillicothe was second in the 300 hurdles.

Girl’s relay winners were Bishop Hogan in the 4 by 100 (Chillicothe 2nd) and 4 by 200, while Chillicothe and Trenton finished 1 and 2 in both the 4 by 400 and 4 by 800 relays.

In boy’s results, Bishop Hogan’s William Bradley-King won the discus and shot put titles.  Walker Graves of Chillicothe was third in the discus and Levi Marlay of Cameron second in the shot put.  Chillicothe’s Tyler Garcia won the javelin toss, with Cameron’s Matthew Simmons in third place.   Chillicothe’s Jesse Miller had a strong day, winning the high jump and long jump, and finishing second, behind Lafayette’s Jerrod Wilkinson, in the triple jump.  Trenton’s Austin Burkeybile picked up a third place finish in the long jump.

Cooper Burton of Benton was first and Chillicothe’s Mason Hayward second in the 100 meter dash, with Hayward third in the 200 meter dash, won by Jordan Carrick of Bishop Hogan.  Josh Sanders of Maryville is the 400 meter winner, with Benton’s Jackson Beavers first and Chillicothe’s Robbie Parkey second in the 800.

Layne Worman of Chillicothe won the 1,600 and 3,200 meter races.  Jacob Barbee of Cameron took second and Trenton’s Daniel Rodriguez third in the 3,200 meters.  

Maryville’s Spencer Morrison won both hurdles races (110 and 300), with Brett Shaffer of Chillicothe finishing second in both races.

The Benton boys won the 4 by 100 relay, with Maryville grabbing the 4 by 200 crown.  Chillicothe claimed the 4 by 400 relay, with Benton finishing first, Trenton second, and Chillicothe third in the 4 by 800 relay.
