The Trenton Lady Bulldog softball team cruised to a 17-0 win at Polo on Tuesday night, with junior Ainsley Tolson firing a two-hit shutout, while the potent THS offense received home runs from Maci Moore and Sydney Lynch in a dominant four-inning performance.

The win improves Trenton to 9-1 overall and 5-0 in the Grand River Conference East, with remaining conference games at Milan (Thursday at 5:30) and Putnam County (Tuesday, 9/12 at 5:30 on Hot Country Z 101.7).  In addition to Tolson’s pitching prowess, Ainsley ignited the Bulldog offense out of the leadoff spot, with a double and triple as part of a 3-for-3, three run night.  Mykah Hurley scored three times for Trenton, walking twice and getting a base hit in four at-bats.  Ashten Whitaker had a pair of hits, including a double, in three at-bats, Lynch had three RBI’s and scored four runs, while Moore had three runs scored, three hits, and three RBI’s for the Bulldogs.

The defeat drops Polo to 1-2 in conference play, with a makeup date with the Gallatin Lady Bulldogs coming up tonight (Wednesday night) at 5:30, followed by a visit from the Princeton Lady Tigers on Thursday.

The THS JV moved to 6-0 on Tuesday night, defeating the Polo Lady Panthers 7-0 in four innings.

THS was led by Sara Spencer who went two-for-two with a double and walk, with three RBIs for the Bulldogs. McKayla Blackburn went one-for-two with a walk and an RBI, and Jaycie Griffin also logged a hit for THS going one-for-two with two runs scored.
In the circle, Blackburn went four innings for Trenton, giving up no runs on two hits, while striking out a career high ten batters.
Elsewhere in the GRC on Tuesday night, Maysville flexed its muscles in a 14-4 road win at Gallatin, scoring seven runs in the first two innings to take the lead, and putting the game away with 7 more runs over the game’s final two innings.  South Harrison rallied from a 9-1 hole in a game in Bethany against the Milan Lady Wildcats, overtaking MHS in the final inning for a dramatic 11-9 win.  The Lady Bulldogs picked up their second victory in conference play this fall.  After falling to Putnam County on Monday night, the Princeton Lady Tigers had the night off, along with the Lady Midgets.
Putnam County and Trenton are both 5-0 in GRC East play.  The Trenton at Putnam County game on Tuesday, September 12th could very well decide the divisional championship, although Putnam County will have a GRC East game with Maysville on Monday, September 18th, with Trenton playing at Milan this Thursday night.  The GRC East champion will host the GRC West champion in the second-ever GRC softball championship game on Thursday, September 21st.
The Stanberry Lady Bulldogs, defending champion in the GRC West, moved to 4-0 in conference play this fall, hammering North Andrew on Tuesday night 12-2.  King City rolled to an 11-1 win over the Pattonsburg Lady Panthers.  Worth County got into the win column, downing Albany by a final of 13-7.
