Trenton no-hit in Thursday night duel at Macon

The Macon Tigers shutout and no-hit the Trenton Bulldogs in high school baseball action on Thursday night, 7-0, although Bulldog head coach Andy Hight praised the Bulldogs continued improved play, noting only two errors and good pitching from the combination of Jesse Farmer, Colton Colston, and Avery Cooksey.

Trenton failed to get anything going offensively against the Macon starting pitcher Fry, who combined with Walker and Moore for a 7-inning, no-hit, 12 strikeout effort.

The Tigers opened the scoring against Farmer with a run in the bottom of the 2nd inning, then added to the advantage with a run in the 3rd, three in the fourth, and two more tallies in the sixth inning.

Trenton will help open the new baseball field at St. Joseph Christian, playing the Lions on Monday night at 5 o’clock on “Parents Night” at SJCC.  That will be the final regular season game of the 2017 season for THS.

Trenton has earned a #5 seed for the Class 2, District 15 tournament at Mid-Buchanan High School.  In first round play on Saturday, May 13th, the Lathrop Mules (seeded #3) take on East Buchanan at 11 o’clock, followed by the #4 seed Plattsburg Tigers against Trenton at 1 PM.

The Plattsburg-Trenton winner advances to the semifinals to play Mid-Buchanan at 5 PM on Monday, May 15th, with Bishop LeBlond taking on the Lathrop-East Buchanan survivor at 7.

The Class 2, District 15 championship game will be Wednesday, May 17th at 5 PM in Faucett.
