High School Baseball

The Trenton Bulldogs, in a game heard Tuesday night on KTTN FM 92.3, scored five runs off Milan starter Connor Bankus in both the 1st and 2nd innings, and winning on the road for the second straight night, 15-10.

Milan, down 10-0 heading into the home 2nd, made things interesting, scoring five runs to cut the lead in half.  The Wildcats answered Trenton’s 2 spot in the 3rd with three tallies off starting pitcher Sam Schilling and Chase Otto, before Otto “settled the ship” by shutting out Milan over the 4th, 5th, and 6th innings.  The Wildcats added two runs in the bottom of the 7th, falling five runs short.

For Trenton, Colton Colston continued his sizzling stretch, going 3 for 5 with two runs scored and two RBI’s.  Sam Schilling, who pitched the first 2 1/3 innings for Trenton, went 2 for 3 with 3 RBI’s, while Otto and Avery Cooksey both drove in two runs.  The Bulldogs had 10 hits in the game, just two for extra bases (doubles by Hunter Dugan and Otto).

Otto’s relief pitching came at a great time for the Bulldogs winning formula, as he went 4 2/3 innings out of the bullpen, allowing six hits and three runs (one earned), while striking out four.

For Milan, Jesus Gonzalez had a 2 for 4 game with a home run and 4 RBI’s.  Bankus, White, and Weaver all scored twice for the Wildcats, while Smith had two RBI’s, while White, Shipley, and Weaver all drove in runs.

The Trenton JV Bulldogs won at Milan, 4-3.  Canyon VonBurg threw the complete game victory for Trenton.
