Trenton tennis starts season 2-0, hosts Chillicothe on Monday

The Trenton Lady Bulldogs set themselves up for a highly anticipated tennis matchup with Chillicothe on Monday afternoon with a decisive 7-2 win over visiting Savannah on Thursday, improving to 2-0 on the young season.

The win over the Savages goes with a sweep of Carrollton 48 hours earlier to account for Trenton’s unbeaten start.  After the visit from the Hornets on Monday, Bishop LeBlond will travel to Trenton to play the Bulldogs on Tuesday, with a trip to Cameron on Thursday, and participation in the St. Joseph Benton Tournament on Friday (September 1st) completing a busy week for THS,.

Against Savannah, Trenton won 5 of 7 singles matches, with Lauren Dolan defeating Jocelyn Kallauner 8-4, Samantha Mihalovich over Lauren Stafford 8-1, Emma Gilham over Libby Rollett 8-1, and Maddie Searcy an 8-love shutout of Lauren Bailey.  For SHS, Jacey Cornelius beat the Lady Bulldogs Claire Utley at #1 singles 9-7, while Olivia Claycomb downed Latorrie Johnson at #6 singles, 8-3.

In doubles play, Trenton dominated with 3 wins to Savannah’s zero.  Utley and Dolan defeated Cornelius and Stafford 8-4, Mihalovich and Searcy combined for a 8-2 win over Kallauner and Bailey, while Gilham and Johnson took down Rollett and Halle Cornelius 8-2.

Elle Neal, playing singles for the Trenton JV, won both of her matches played on Thursday, beating Olivia Claycomb 6-love and Halle Cornelius 6-1.
