Trenton’s Atup shoots solid 65, representing Bulldogs in triangular meet at Richmond

Trenton High School junior Mari Atup finished with a nine-hole score of 65 on Wednesday afternoon at the Shirkey Golf Course in Richmond, finishing in a tie for fifth place among the 10 golfers between Trenton, Richmond, and Lawson.

With Josie Chumbley unavailable to golf this week, Atup picked up the slack, with her 65 including a bogey 5 on the fourth hole and a double-bogey 7 in the third hole.  She stayed under double digits with her shot total on all nine holes played.

Richmond’s Hannah Norris won medalist honors with a round of 54, followed by her teammate Kennedy Wrisinger at 56 and Lawson’s Nina Schaedel at 59.

Other scores from the event were a 65 from Richmond’s Tori Bowman, 68’s from Aubrey Cox and Morgyn Hubbard of Lawson, a 69 from Zalie Gregory of Richmond, and 71 from Maggie Thompson of Lawson.

Richmond’s team score of 244 bested Lawson’s 257 by 13 strokes.
