In their second-to-last event of the regular season, the Trenton Bulldogs wrestling team lost a “Senior Night’ dual against the visiting Lafayette County (Higginsville) Huskers, 45-30.
THS Head Coach Charlie Bacon called it a “tough night” for the bulldogs, noting that matchups, particularly in the lighter weights, worked against Trenton. Mark Trump, Jadan Whitney, and Mason Owen, three of the top wrestlers on the Trenton rosters, all won by forfeit and did not get to wrestle.
Lucas Clark of Trenton, in his final match on the home mats, got the first take-down of his meeting with Jedi Ratliff at 160 pounds, and quickly turned that into a cradle, locking up a pin, and a victory, at just 52 seconds into the match. That was the only “head-to-head” victory for the Bulldogs against the Huskers.
Trenton will head to Lexington High School on Saturday for the annual Lexington Tournament. District competition for the Bulldogs will be Friday, February 9th and Saturday, February 10th at Marceline High School.
