Werthen Gass of Trenton High School shot an 18-hole score of 87 on Tuesday to win the Gallatin Golf Tournament at the Daviess County Country Club.  Gass’ score was two strokes better than the 89 of runner-up Ally Johnson of Gallatin.  The host Gallatin Lady Bulldogs had three of the top five scores on the board, using that balance to win the team title with a score of 386, five strokes better than the runner-up tally of 391 by Stanberry.

Other schools at the Gallatin event were Worth County, Braymer, Maysville, Albany, South Harrison, and Trenton.  One of Trenton’s players was unable to play on Tuesday due to illness, meaning that THS was not eligible to compete for the team championship, having only three players on the course. Maci Henson shot 114 and Oakley Madden 133 for Trenton High School.

Megan Cox of Gallatin was third place with a round of 95, tied with Allie Gage of Stanberry.  Tied at 97 were Gallatin’s Sarabeth Michael and Stanberry’s Allison Marticke.  Stanberry’s Marissa Jenson shot 99, followed by 100 from Stanberry’s Brianna Newman, 102 for Braymer’s Stephanie Gates, and 105’s from Worth County’s duo of Jessie Badell and Regan Allee, along with Gallatin’s Kelli Lynch.

Trenton is spending Wednesday in another tournament, traveling to the Shirkey Golf Course in Richmond for the Richmond Tournament, starting at 9 o’clock this morning.

Down the road from Gallatin, Lawson High School hosted the Lawson Golf Invitational, with the Penney High School Hornets bringing three players to the event.  While that number was one short of being able to place a team score, Sam Cornelius represented the Lady Hornets in superb fashion, shooting a 79 to beat the 81 put up by runner-up Savannah Oesterle of Smithville.  Abby Daffron of Plattsburg was third at 88.  For Hamilton, Hali Dinwiddie shot 121 and Shaylea East 132.

Smithville won the Lawson team championship with a score of 382, with Plattsburg in second place at 389, and Excelsior Springs third at 403.  Other schools in the event were Bishop LeBlond, Pleasant Hill, Richmond, Odessa, Cameron, St. Pius X, and Kearney.
