Two home games for the Southeastern Conference’s two newest schools, the University of Oklahoma and University of Texas, were announced as part of ESPN’s Monday Night Football broadcast.  The two top programs in the current 14-school SEC, Georgia and Alabama, will be involved in the contests.

On October 19th, the Texas Longhorns will play host to the Georgia Bulldogs, welcoming the 2021 and 2022 national champions to Austin.  The two teams last met in the 2019 Sugar Bowl in New Orleans, with Texas winning 28-21.

On November 23rd, the Alabama Crimson Tide will play the Oklahoma Sooners in Norman.  The two power programs have played four times since 2000.  They have played in both the College Football Playoff and the Sugar Bowl within the past ten years, with the Crimson Tide winning the playoff encounter 45-34.

Texas and Oklahoma, along with the 14 other schools to make up the SEC next season, will learn the complete football schedule with a release show to air Wednesday night at 6 o’clock on ESPN and the SEC Network.

Other dates of note for the 2024 SEC schedule to be announced are Florida hosting Miami and Notre Dame at Texas A&M on August 31st, Texas A&M at Florida on September 14th, Tennessee at Oklahoma at September 21st, and Georgia at Alabama on September 28th.

In October, Alabama and Tennessee meet up in Knoxville on the same day of the Georgia-Texas showdown (October 19th) with LSU at Texas A&M moved to October 26th.  That traditional end-of-the-season duel between the Tigers and Aggies was moved to make room for the Thanksgiving weekend return of Texas A&M hosting Texas on November 30th.

Alabama will play at LSU on November 9th, with Texas playing long-time bitter rival Arkansas on November 16th in Fayetteville.

The University of Missouri learned its 2024 conference opponents in mid-June, with dates for the games on the upcoming official announcement.

Oklahoma will play Missouri for the 97th time this year, in the first meeting between the Sooners and Tigers since 2011, as OUT visits Columbia.  Arkansas, Auburn, and Vanderbilt will be the other SEC home opponents for MU, with the Tigers traveling to Alabama, Mississippi State, South Carolina, and Texas A&M.  The SEC will be eliminating divisional standings beginning in 2024, with the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta featuring the top two teams in the conference standings at the end of the regular season.

Missouri’s non-conference opponents in 2024 with see Murray State, Buffalo, and Boston College at Faurot Field, with a trip to the University of Massachusetts, although there have been rumblings about the possibility of a change in game for that weekend for MU.
