Colorado coach Deion Sanders facing potential foot amputation

NCAA NFL

It is concerning to hear that Deion Sanders, head football coach at Jackson State University and former professional football player, is facing potential circulation issues in his left foot that may result in further amputations. Sanders allowed camera crews from “Thee Pregame Show” to film a meeting with his medical team at the University of Colorado, where he is preparing for his first season as head coach.

In the 11-minute segment released on YouTube, Sanders discussed his daily pain levels and possible next steps with his orthopedic surgeon, vascular surgeons, and athletic trainer. The medical team informed Sanders that the risks involved could potentially lead to the loss of not just another toe but his entire foot.

Despite the risks, Sanders expressed his understanding and mentioned that he currently has no feeling on the bottom of his left foot. He stated that if a procedure is recommended, he would like to have it done during the summer before the football season starts, as he will be occupied once the season is underway.

Sanders missed three games at Jackson State in 2021 after having two toes amputated during the season. He took on the head coaching position at the University of Colorado in December, following the team’s disappointing 1-11 season in 2022. Since his hiring, there has been a renewed interest in the program, as evidenced by the sold-out spring game and the full sale of season tickets for the first time in nearly three decades. The Buffaloes are set to open their season against TCU on September 2 and will host former Big 12 rival Nebraska a week later at Folsom Field.
