Eight softball teams to converge on Ebbe Sports Complex for Saturday’s Nan Carter Classic

The Trenton Lady Bulldogs and North Central Missouri College Lady Pirates will host the Nan Carter Softball Classic, Saturday at the Ebbe Sports Complex adjacent to Trenton High School.

Joining Trenton in the eight-team field will be the Lady Bulldogs Grand River Conference rivals from Milan and South Harrison, in addition to the newly-named cooperative from Platte Valley (combination of Jefferson and South Nodaway), the HDC Conference champion North Harrison Lady Shamrocks, the rival schools from Linn County in Brookfield and Marceline, and the Richmond Lady Spartans.

Trenton will play, as part of Pool A, will three of its early games at Griffin Field, with THS battling South Harrison at 9 AM, Richmond at 1:30, and Platte Valley at 4:30.  Other Pool A games at Griffin will be Richmond vs. Platte Valley at 10:30, South Harrison vs. Platte Valley at noon, and Richmond vs. South Harrison at 3 o’clock.

At adjacent Johnson Field, North Harrison, Milan, Brookfield, and Marceline will make up Pool B.  The schedule of games will start at 9 AM with North Harrison taking on Milan, then the rivalry game with Brookfield and Marceline at 10:30.  Brookfield and Milan tangle at noon, with North Harrison vs. Marceline at 1:30, Brookfield vs. North Harrison at 3:00, and Milan opposite Marceline at 4:30.

Fourth place teams from each pool will play for 7th place at Johnson Field at 6 o’clock on Saturday night, with the 5th place game matching up the respective 3rd place finishers at the same time at Griffin Field.

The 2nd place teams go into the 3rd place game at 7:30 at Johnson Field, while the two 1st place pool finishers matchup in the championship game at Griffin Field, 7:30 on Saturday night.

All monies raised from Saturday’s softball tournament, including admission costs and concessions, will go to the softball program at North Central Missouri College.

Trenton will be looking to win its second tournament title in three weeks, after winning the Putnam County Tournament on September 3rd.
