Brandon Gossett, the assistant coach for the 2019-2020 North Central Missouri College basketball team that spent seven weeks as the #1 ranked team in the nation, has been named head coach at Northern Oklahoma College – Tonkawa.  He arrives at NOC after the past two years as an assistant coach at Kansas City Kansas Community College.  At KCK, Gossett assisted Blue Devils head coach and former NCMC Pirate Brandon Burgette.  While at NCMC, Gossett assisted former NCMC player and current head coach Jeremy Esry.

Gossett said of the opportunity, “It’s an honor to be named the Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Northern Oklahoma Tonkawa.  I want to thank Alan Foster and everyone who was in on the decision for this opportunity.  I am excited to lead these young men on and off the floor, and continue to grow the program!”

Foster is the Athletic Director at NOC.  At KCK, Gossett helped improve the Blue Devils into a force in the Jayhawk Conference and NJCAA Region VI, with a 40-23 record over two years.  The 2021-2022 team finished 21-10, the first 20+ win season for KCK in seven years.  Prior to KCK, Gossett was an assistant coach at Emporia State University, with the Hornets improving their win total from four in 2019 to eleven in 2020.

As an assistant at North Central to Esry, Gossett helped guide the Pirates to a 27-3 record in 2019-2020, in addition to a Region XVI and District XII championship.  Despite reaching the national tournament in Danville, Illinois, NCMC never got the opportunity to play for a national title, with the event cancelled by the emerging COVID-19 pandemic.

Gossett, at NOC-Tonkawa, replaces Patrick Nee, who left for the head coaching position at Allen County Community College in Iola, Kansas.  Gossett is a native of Aurora, Illinois and received a Bachelor’s of Science in Criminal Justice from Eureka College in 2016.  Prior to his time at North Central, Gossett had coaching stops at Rock Valley College (Rockford, Illinois) and Peru State College (Peru, Nebraska).
