Klaver becomes first Pirate golfer to sign with four-year school, heading for Concordia

Easton Klaver, a sophomore golfer for the NCMC Pirates, has signed his National Letter of Intent to continue his playing career at Concordia University beginning in the fall of 2018.  While it is always a big deal when Pirate athletes move on to compete at the next level, this signing is especially important because Klaver becomes the first men’s golfer to use NCMC as a springboard to the 4-year level.

“I wish him the best at the next level.  Concordia is a program that offers outstanding facilities and he’ll benefit from a more structured practice routine.  The GPAC is a very competitive conference, he’s got the tools to be successful, I’m confident he’ll figure it out quickly,” remarked NCMC Coach Craig Sager.

Klaver will be coached by Brett Muller, who enters his seventh season as the Head Coach of Concordia University.  “I am extremely excited to have Easton join the Concordia family in the fall! He will be a great addition to our campus as he continues to pursue his degree in Business Administration. His collegiate playing experience will benefit the program immensely,” commented Muller.

Easton’s commitment to the game of golf and his growing maturity are great attributes he will take with him to Concordia.  His durability has allowed him to tee it up at every event in the short history of the Pirates’ program.  “Easton has matured a great deal in his time here.  On the course, he’s become a more complete player, realizing that there’s more to the game than striking the golf ball.  Off the course, he has advanced his study skills and placed more emphasis on his academics.  He’s now in a position to make the most of the opportunity that Concordia has offered him as a student-athlete,” added Sager.

Be sure to come out to see Easton and his Pirate teammates compete this spring.  Their schedule opens Tuesday, February 27th when they travel to the Tyler Junior College Spring Invitational in Tyler, TX.  The full schedule of tournaments can be found at ncmcpirates.com.
