The Midland Empire Conference has announced postseason first and second team honors, in addition to honorable mention selections, for the 2023 softball season.
From the MEC champion Chillicothe Lady Hornets, freshman Hope Donoho was named a first-team infielder. She and Savannah infielder Macee Blythe were the only 9th graders named first-team All-MEC in the voting.
Chillicothe won the MEC with a 7-0 league record, followed by Savannah’s 6-1, with LeBlond and Benton both at 4-3, good for a 3rd place tie. Chillicothe had a disappointing finish to the season, falling to Lafayette in the district semifinal round. Savannah won Class 3, District 8, but was defeated by Oak Grove in Saturday’s quarterfinal round.
Chillicothe’s Lee Rucker and Savannah’s B.J. Winn shared MEC Coach of the Year honors.
