Mudcats slump continues in home setback to Clarinda

Chillicothe Mudcat Baseball Local Sports

The Chillicothe Mudcats had a tough game against the Clarinda A’s on Tuesday evening, falling by a score of 9-4.  Kainoa Holt made his first start of the season and delivered four quality innings. However, relief pitcher Caleb Bergman struggled, giving up three more runs in three innings of work.

The Mudcats’ offense had a slow start, and although they managed to score a few runs later in the game, it wasn’t enough to overcome the deficit. First Baseman Tanner Sears and Second Baseman Peyton Becker contributed to the scoring, but ultimately, the team fell short.

With a record of 7-13, the Mudcats are disappointed with their performance. They have had some close games but have also experienced larger margin losses recently. The team recognizes the need to improve their pitching depth, particularly in the bullpen, as it has been a factor in their losses.

Looking ahead to tonight (Wednesday night), the Mudcats will face division rival St. Joseph in a home game in Trenton. RHP Layne Rutherford is scheduled to start the game. The team hopes to address their pitching concerns and make a strong push towards the top of the division before the All-Star Break.
