One year removed from district runner-up finish, veteran THS girls tennis team looks for strong ’17 season

The Trenton Lady Bulldog tennis team looks ready to compete at the same high level of play as 2016, when THS advanced to the district final round, before falling to an exceptional Maryville squad.  The season was part of a superb 2016-2017 run of success at Trenton High School, that included the boy’s tennis team advancing to the state quarterfinals in May, before falling to eventual state champion Pembroke Hill.

Practice for the 2017 tennis season began on Monday morning on the courts outside Trenton High School, with Head Coach Bobbie Hainey welcoming 15 young ladies to the squad this fall:

Despite the advanced success of last year’s squad, Hainey told KTTN that the Lady Bulldogs are beginning at a low level, planning to advance expectations and practice intensity as the season opener at Carrollton on Tuesday afternoon, August 22nd approaches:

With a runner-up district finish a year ago, combined with the experience of watching their male counterparts advance two wins further in the spring, Hainey was asked if a district title is Trenton’s #1 goal in 2017:

Following the August 22nd match at Carrollton, Trenton welcomes Savannah to the THS Courts for the Lady Bulldog home opener on Thursday, August 24th.  An early season duel with the Chillicothe Hornets, with CHS traveling north to Trenton, to set for Monday, August 28th.
