Red-hot Hornets win 7th straight, beating MEC rival Maryville 8-3

The Chillicothe Lady Hornets softball team, buoyed by their Saturday championship in the Lexington Tournament, continues to play well, now winners of seven straight contests, including an 8-3 victory over the Maryville Spoofhounds on Tuesday night.

Chillicothe had 14 hits in the win, and was effective with offensive production early, with two runs in the 3rd and 4th innings pushing the Lady Hornets to a 5-1 lead.  Jylian Davis worked 5 1/3 innings to earn the victory for Chillicothe.  Abby Jones and Maddi Graham each had a pair of RBI’s for CHS.

Other softball finals on Tuesday included Platte Valley beating North Andrew 10-0, East Buchanan over Stewartsville 5-2, West Platte over Dekalb 5-4, Mid-Buchanan over Cameron 12-8, LaPlata over Bevier 9-1, Atlanta over Brashear 11-1, Kirksville over Columbia Battle 9-5, and Marceline throttling Westran 12-0.
