Trenton Lady Bulldogs keep weekend momentum going with sweep of Penney

Volleyball

The Trenton Lady Bulldogs extended their winning ways off of Saturday afternoon’s play at the Lathrop Tournament, sweeping the Penney Hornets on the hardwood in Hamilton on Tuesday night, 25-18, 25-15.

Trenton, now 7-7 on the season, had a well-balanced floor game, led by more superb serving from the back-line, as Allena Allen, Melea Farmer, and Karli Provorse combined for eight aces.  Farmer added five digs and five assists, with Allen providing three digs, and Shawna Coplen four assists.

Evy McCullough had three kills for Trenton, with Gilcy Ando providing strong depth with a three kill, two dig night.

The Lady Bulldogs, unbeaten (3-0) at home this season, will look to go to 4-0 in the ‘friendly confines’ of the THS gymnasium on Monday night, hosting the Brookfield Lady ‘Dogs.  Coverage of the varsity match will be live on KTTN FM 92.3, starting just past 6 o’clock.

Trenton Middle School volleyball played an “A” game against visiting Plattsburg on Tuesday night, with the Tigers taking a 25-6, 25-7 victory. Mackenzie Epperson and Faith Baker both had kills in last night’s match for TMS.  While acknowledging his team’s struggles in the match, Coach Brad Ewald noted the Trenton girls are “improving immensely with their passing, setting, and hitting”.
