Trenton High School junior Astrid Soriano took the individual tennis championship in the Class 1, District 15 tournament, defeating Kirksville’s Madisynn Crawford in the title match, 6-2, 6-0. The victory sends Soriano to Friday’s sectional round to play the #2 seed coming out of District 16. Crawford will also advance to the sectional round, but will see the District 16 champion.
In doubles competition, Chillicothe’s team of Kylee Washburn and Isabella Carr swept Kirksville’s Katlynn DeLeon and Ashley Combs, 6-2, 6-4. Both doubles teams advance to sectional round.
