Trenton JV softball beats Tina-Avalon varsity, 8-2

The Trenton junior varsity was able to add a game to their softball schedule in recent days, with Athletic Director Wes Croy finding a Wednesday night opening at Tina-Avalon, with THS taking on the T-A varsity.

Trenton won the affair 8-2, getting a victory prior on Monday night’s meeting against the Marceline JV at Griffin Field.

Tina-Avalon, on Wednesday night, got the early lead on a first inning run, but Trenton responded in the top of the third, pushing two runs across.  In the fourth inning, Trenton turned a slight lead into a large advantage, as an Ashten Whitaker single scored Kennedy Norton, a Sydney Lynch double sent Whitaker scampering home, and Kendall Crowley added a two-out bases loaded single, all helping to push the lead to 7-1.

Both teams scored single tallies in the sixth inning for the final margin.

McKayla Blackburn earned the win from the circle, with seven inning of four-hit softball, giving up two runs with five strikeouts of Dragon batters.
