Foster, Van Hoozer combine for three individual titles as TMS girls win Putnam County Relays, scoring 129 points

By 20 points over the runner-up Kirksville Lady Tigers, the Trenton Middle School girls won the Putnam County Junior High Relays in Unionville on Thursday afternoon.  Trenton scored 129 points to Kirksville’s 109, with Clark County in 3rd place.  Other schools in the event were Green City (4th), Brookfield (5th), Scotland County, Davis County (IA), Putnam County, Schuyler County, Milan, and Brashear.

Grabbing first place finishes for the Trenton team was Gwyneth Foster in the 100 meter dash (14.04 seconds) and 400 meter dash (1:06.76), in addition to winning 2nd in the 200 meter dash (29.4) and third place in the long jump.

Maci Moore had another superb day, with a pair of runner-up finishes (triple jump – 28′ 9″ and shot put – 39′ 1″) and a fourth place discus throw of 75 feet, 6 inches.

Janessa Van Hoozer claimed the 800 meter run in a time of 2:43.28, while Haylee Coplen was third in the pole vault, going six feet.

Trenton had a strong relay day, led by a win in the 4 by 100, with Emma Curtis, Emilee Lovell, Maci Moore, and Lexi Gott putting up a time of 57.12 seconds.  Both the by 4 by 800 and 4 by 400 relay teams were second, with the 4 by 200 relay squad third.

The TMS girls also picked up a third place finish in the 800 meter Medley, with Elliana Gaunt, Katie Markell, Emilee Lovell, and Evie Dowell running a time of 2:18.02.
Trenton’s girls and boys middle school teams will host the Trenton Middle School Relays on Tuesday afternoon (April 18th) at C.F. Russell Stadium.
