The 2017 run of Holiday Hoops at North Central Missouri College is underway, with two games played on Saturday afternoon, with two more games and an exhibition scheduled for Monday night at the Ketcham Community Center in Trenton.

On Saturday, the Southwest Livingston boys lost to the Scotland County Tigers, 61-44, with the Memphis team dominating the second half of play, pulling away from a tight game through two quarters.  Matthew Woods led Scotland County with 21 points, while Will Fromm added 13.  Sophomore center Mack Anderson had 20 points for the Wildcats, who lost for just the second time this season, struggling to find a consistent second scorer to take the pressure off of their 6’5″ center.

The Southwest Livingston girls, ranked #2 in the state in Class 1, started quickly against St. Joseph Lafayette, with Kortlyn Rounkles strong floor game leading the Lady Wildcats to an early 10-4 lead.  However, the depth and physicality of the Fighting Irish eventually overtook Southwest, in a 46-37 final that slapped the first loss of the season on the now 5-1 Lady Wildcats.

Jada Johnson led Lafayette with 15 points, with point guard Tray Byrd adding 13.  Rounkles, who fouled out late in the contest, paced Southwest Livingston with 16 points.  Kaylie Campbell had 15.

The second day of Holiday Hoops tips off at 4 o’clock this (Monday) afternoon, with the Grundy R-V Lady Panthers battling Bucklin/Macon County.  The Grundy R-V boys play Bucklin/Macon County at 5:30.  An exhibition game featuring the “Trenton Heroes” Special Olympic team against a group representing the High School Holiday Hoops Committee will be played at 7 o’clock.
