The North Harrison Lady Shamrocks showed off their softball program’s depth on Saturday, sending their junior varsity to compete in the six-team HDC Conference Tournament in Bethany, with the youngsters from Eagleville taking the title by winning three games by a combined score of 43-2.

In pool play, the Shamrocks beat Winston 13-1, and, behind a perfect game tossed by Carly Rinehart, Grundy County R-V in the semifinals 15-0.  The title game, played at Memorial Park, went to the Shamrocks over Tri-County 15-1.

The Lady Panthers of Grundy went 1-1 in pool play, including a 13-4 win over Winston.  The Galt team salvaged an “above .500” day with a 11-4 triumph over Mercer for third place.

Tri-County, before running into the North Harrison buzzsaw, had a superb day, showing their improved level in 2017 by routing Gilman City in the morning opener, 18-1, then, claiming a 6-5 win over Mercer to advance into the title game.  Mercer earned the spot in the third place contest with an 11-5 win over Gilman City.

The consolation final went to Winston, 11-4 over the Gilman City Ladyhawks.
