Plans announced for 2022 “12 Courts” event in KC

High School Basketball Local Sports

The first-ever “12 Courts of Christmas” event held at Hy-Vee Arena in Kansas City’s West Bottoms is in the books, with over 130 teams participating in the two-week long event.

Schools from a five-state region converged on the former Kemper Arena, with event organizer Steve Maxey indicating that interest is growing for the 2022 run, with interest coming in from the states of Arkansas, Illinois, and Minnesota.  The first “12 Courts” brought in squads from Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska, and Oklahoma.

The 2022 event will begin on Friday, December 16th, with action continuing into Saturday, December 17th.  After the idle Sunday, basketball runs week-long from Monday, December 19th through Friday, December 23rd, before concluding from December 27th through the 31st.

The 2022 event will be sanctioned by the Missouri State High School Activities Association, in addition to adjoining associations from the neighboring states.  The event is open to both boys and girls teams.
