Princeton moves up to #8, Marceline earns a first-place vote, in weekly football media poll

High School Football

The Princeton Tigers, now 8-0 and having earned the program’s first Grand River Conference championship since 2007, continue their steady climb up the high school football media poll, receiving 32 points and an 8th place position.  The top four in Class 1 remain the same, although the Lewis and Clark champion Marceline Tigers do have one first-place vote, while the other 14 tallies go to the #1 ranked Monroe City Panthers.  Penney High of Hamilton is ranked #4.

Saturday’s victory by Higginsville over rival Lexington for the MRVC East title sent the Huskers surging and the Minutemen dropping in the Class 2 poll, with the Huskers up three spots to #6 in the state, while Lexington drops from #5 to #9.  Chillicothe’s 14-7 road win at Smithville had no effect on the Hornets Class 3 rankings, with CHS holding at #5.  Surprisingly, the Warriors did not drop either, staying at #8 in Class 4.
