Wolverines defeat rival Wildkats, Lawson wins at Trenton, in Tuesday baseball action

Long-time rivals Maysville and King City locked horns in high school baseball action on Tuesday evening, with the Wolverines getting the better of the ‘Kats, winning 16-4.  That score was one of several across the region with lopsided results, as Polo beat Princeton 16-1 and Savannah shutout Maryville 12-0.  At Burleigh Grimes Field in Trenton, the visiting Lawson Cardinals grabbed a 7-3 win over the Trenton Bulldogs.

Putnam County, on Saturday, will host the Putnam County Midget baseball tournament, welcoming the Princeton Tigers, Green City Gophers, and Scotland County Tigers to town.  In the 11 AM semifinals, Putnam County will host Scotland County at the “North” Field, with Green City dueling with Princeton on the “South” Field.  The consolation final and championship games are slated for a 1:30 first pitch.
