Huggins to undergo rehab, wants return to West Virginia

NCAA

Hall of Fame basketball coach Bob Huggins has checked into a rehabilitation facility following a drunken driving arrest and is disputing West Virginia University’s statement that he resigned.

Huggins accused the university of releasing a “false statement” about his resignation and clarified that he has been focused on his rehabilitation and has not responded until now.

WVU announced Huggins’ resignation on June 17, but Huggins claims he never submitted a formal notice and that the university’s statement was not drafted or reviewed by him.

The university responded by stating that Huggins’ letter was without merit and any claim that he hadn’t resigned is frivolous. Huggins expressed a desire to resolve the situation and conclude his career as the head basketball coach at WVU.
