North Harrison’s Payton Craig fires perfect game in HDC win at Mercer

The North Harrison Lady Shamrocks took a giant leap in their goal of a regular season championship in the HDC Conference, routing Mercer on the road Tuesday night, 11-0.  North Harrison’s Payton Craig, in the victory, fired a five-inning perfect game against the Lady Cardinals.  North Harrison, in their second game against Mercer, started quickly, scoring four runs in the top of the first inning, and ended with a flourish, scoring four in the top of the 5th frame.

A softball / baseball doubleheader from the HDC Conference, scheduled for Tuesday night at Newtown (between Tri-County and Grundy County R-5) was postponed due to field conditions.  The games between the Mustangs and Panthers will be played (again at Newtown) on Wednesday, September 28th.

The Gallatin Lady Bulldogs won a GRC cross-over game against long-time rival Albany on Tuesday night, rallying from a 4-1 deficit for a 5-4, nine inning victory.  Ariel Harris hit a ninth-inning homer for GHS for the game-winning run.

Smithville scored a single run in the bottom of the 8th inning to defeat Chillicothe in Midland Empire Conference play, 2-1.  In GRC eastern division play, Maysville started quickly with four runs in the bottom of the 1st inning, and pulled away from Princeton late, in a 7-4 victory.
