The North Harrison Lady Shamrocks, behind a four-hit complete-game effort by Ashlynn Gilpatrick, won at Milan on Monday night by a score of 6-1, in a varsity softball game broadcast on KTTN FM 92.3.

The visitors from Eagleville opened the scoring in the top of the first inning, with Jayleigh Robins reaching on a bloop single, followed by a two-base advance to a sacrifice bunt by Carly Rinehart.  A passed ball would score Robins.

Milan lost a golden opportunity to take the lead back in the bottom of the first inning, but the Lady ‘Cats failed to score from a second-and-third, no-out situation, with a come-backer to Gilpatrick followed by a failed steal of home and a strikeout.

The lead ballooned to 3-0 in the top of the third inning, as Camden Castleberry scored on a grounder to third base by Rinehart.  Emma Craig reached via a single and came all the way around the bases after a misplay in the Milan outfield.

Three more runs scored for North Harrison in the fifth inning, with Robins, Rinehart, and Craig adding to the lead.

Milan sliced the lead down to its final score of 6-1, as Cady Pauley’s double and stolen base at third was followed by a RBI ground-out by Lexi May.

The win improves North Harrison to 5-2 on the season, dropping Milan to 1-2.  The Lady Shamrocks will take on Lathrop on Tuesday afternoon, with Milan heading to Polo in GRC Eastern Division play.
